Through the Poverty Relief Fund, the Diocese of Allentown will be providing more than $90,000 to 16 programs and agencies in the diocese.

Local recipients include:• $2,500 to Sacred Heart Church, Palmerton's Family Promise program to shelter families who are homeless;• $5,000 to St. Peter the Fisherman Church, Lake Harmony's food pantry to supply food for the hungry in Carbon County.The money is allocated from the proceeds of the collection taken up in the 89 parishes of the diocese on the third weekend of November. The 2016 Poverty Relief Fund collection will be taken up in all churches in the Diocese on Nov. 19 and 20.
