Mausoleum doors stolen from historic Philadelphia cemetery

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police are seeking help from the public in the theft of two mausoleum doors from a historic cemetery in Philadelphia.

Police said the doors were taken from the Laurel Hill Cemetery between 4 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Monday. The loss was estimated at $25,000. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators in the northwest detective division.Laurel Hill, established in 1836, extends over 74 acres in northwest Philadelphia overlooking the Schuylkill River. Famed as an example of 19th century Romanticism and American landscape design, it contains the remains of Civil War-era generals, Philadelphia industrial magnates and six Titanic passengers. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1998.
