Weatherly girl, 3, dies in crash in Lehigh County

A 3-year-old Carbon County girl was killed when the car she was a passenger in collided with another vehicle and was ripped apart.

Nevaeha Lydia Marie Rivera, of Weatherly, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 4:37 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Weaversville Road in Hanover Township, Lehigh County.State police at Bethlehem said Christeena Williams, of Weatherly, was southbound in a curve when she lost control of her vehicle.The driver's side rear entered the northbound lane and struck the front driver side of a pickup operated by Deven Knoll of Northampton.Williams' vehicle then veered back into the southbound lane and came to rest. Knoll's vehicle came to rest just north of the scene in the southbound lane.Upon impact Williams' vehicle tore apart and Rivera, who was in a child safety seat, was ejected from the rear seat and landed on the road.Troopers said there also was a 10-month-old child in another child safety seat with Williams. The report did not indicate the gender of the child or if the child was injured.Police also did not say if Williams and Knoll were injured.The Lehigh County coroner's office said an autopsy was to be performed today to determine the exact cause of death.
