Police: Man refuses help after crashing pickup, dies

WEST FINLEY (AP) - State police in western Pennsylvania say said a man who crashed his truck and refused help from good Samaritans died before emergency responders arrived.

State police say in a report that the man was traveling on a West Finley road around 7 p.m. Saturday when his pickup became stuck on a very steep shoulder.Two passers-by told police when they tried to help him, the man became "belligerent" and threatened to fight them if they called police, so they left.Apparently, the man - identified as 61-year-old Larry Layton of West Alexander - managed to free his vehicle but it slid down a steep embankment and struck several trees.Police say Layton, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was killed before troopers arrived at the scene.
