Kunkletown man arrested in string of armed robberies

State police arrested a Kunkletown man Monday after he reportedly held up a Square One Mobile station and the Dollar General store in Albrightsville earlier in the day.

Pending charges against Kyle Heim, 34, include aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, theft of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, fleeing and eluding, robbery, being a fugitive from justice and numerous traffic offenses.

Heim had been on the run since fleeing an April 3 attempted traffic stop in a stolen vehicle.

Troopers from the Lehighton barracks took Heim into custody around 1:30 p.m., following a search that also included the Fern Ridge and Swiftwater barracks.

The armed robberies occurred around 9 a.m. Monday and witnesses reported there were no injuries.

Heim fled the attempted stop at 4:20 p.m. on April 3 on Sycamore Circle in Penn Forest Township. At the time of the attempted stop, Heim had multiple warrants for his arrest.

The vehicle he was driving was stolen, police added.

It is described as a black Ford F-150 with a crew cab, 6-foot bed, black rims, chrome step rails, unknown registration, heavy front end damage and a broken passenger side mirror.

Since the April 3 incident, Heim committed multiple armed robberies and thefts throughout Carbon and Monroe counties.

He was considered armed and dangerous until his capture Monday.
