Winter revisited: Snow expected this weekend

A new cold plunge will bring snow showers and even a swath of accumulating snow in parts of the Midwestern and Northeastern states into this weekend, according to the latest news from Accuweather.

The air will be cold enough to allow showers to occur as a mix of rain, ice and snow in some areas and mostly snow in others.

The forecast from the National Weather Service:

Friday: A slight chance of showers before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: A slight chance of snow after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Snow likely before 11am, then rain and snow between 11am and 1pm, then snow after 1pm. High near 36. North wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Saturday Night: A chance of snow before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43.

Sunday Night: A chance of rain and snow after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Monday: A chance of rain and snow before 8am, then rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 55. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday Night: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday: Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32.
