'Lassie' star to appear at history expo

Jon Provost, who played "Timmy" from in the hit television series "Lassie" will speak at History Expo 2016 Saturday at the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum in Allentown. The expo will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"Lassie" was based on a character created by novelist Eric Knight. In 1940 his novel "Lassie Come Home" was published. MGM studios filmed the story in 1943. The novel and film generated several more films and eventually led to the hit television series.History Expo is a free day of history entertainment for the whole family. Visitors can relive life on the American frontier from 200 years ago. Living history actors will re-create the Civil War era, Colonial America and the American Revolution. More than 30 historical societies, house museums, and history organizations from the Lehigh Valley region will be showcased.For a complete list of events, visit
