Rider University freshman Brett Kosciolek was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for all games played March 29-April 4.

The 2015 Tamaqua High School graduate started and pitched seven innings in a 5-2 victory over La Salle University last week in the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic.The 6-7 right-hander allowed just one unearned run while striking out nine La Salle batters."Brett threw really well again against La Salle," said Rider head coach Barry Davis.In his last two starts, against La Salle and Rutgers, Kosciolek pitched 14 innings and allowed one earned run while striking out 14 with just three walks.On the season Kosciolek leads Rider in victories (2-1) and earned run average (2.13). He has 22 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched with just six walks."With Brett we feel we now have four solid starters," Davis said.Kosciolek takes the mound again April 5 when Rider plays Lehigh in the semifinals of the Liberty Bell Classic.
