Lansford man admits to sexual contact with 7-year-old girl

A Carbon County man admitted on Friday in the county court to having inappropriate contact with a young girl.

Robert J. Remes Jr., 22, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of indecent assault. In exchange for the plea the district attorney's office dropped counts of corruption of a minor, unlawful contact with a minor and another count of indecent assault. He was scheduled to go on trial Monday on the charges.He was arrested by state police at Lehighton after they received a complaint from the office of children and youth on Aug. 19, 2015. The family of the victim reported the incident.Remes had inappropriate contact with a then 7-year-old girl in the Weissport area. The girl is now 10.The charge falls under the provisions of Megan's Law. Remes must be evaluated by the state Sexual Assessment Board to determine if he is a violent sexual predator. If it is determined that he is, then he must register for life, and if not, the registration period is 15 years.Sentencing will occur after the state board completes its evaluation.
