Power still out to some area residents

Power has been restored to many area residents after Sunday's high winds knocked down trees and wires.

In Monroe County 451 residents are without power as of 5:30 a.m., including 56 in Chestnuthill Township and 13 in Polk Township.

In Carbon County, four customers are without power in Penn Forest Township.

Jess Long from PPL said the company expected to restore all customers by noon today.

Power was out Sunday at the Normal Square and Walmart intersections of Route 443. Walmart reopened shortly before 4 p.m. after electricity was restored.

The Mahoning outage in particular was due to wires down just past Seneca Road.

Normal Square Inn was out from 6 a.m. to 3p.m. Owner Mike D' Amico Jr. said he normally opens at 4 p.m. so business was not affected, but he used a lot of propane to run his generator.
