Lehigh man arrested after making threats, standoff

A Lehigh County man has been apprehended after he allegedly pointed a gun at the head of another man and then threatened him Sunday in Washington Township.

State Police at Bethlehem said the incident occurred at 9:45 a.m. along the 5200 block of Rextown Road, Washington Township.Police said Troy Long, 50, of Slatington, and the victim, a 48-year-old man from Walnutport, engaged in a verbal argument.Long pointed a loaded Winchester 30-30 rifle at the victim's head and threatened the victim, who was able to flee the residence.Long was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.Officials tried to serve an arrest and search warrant at Long's residence.Long came out of the residence without incident at about 10:45 p.m.Rextown Road was closed for about five hours from Welshtown Road to Mountain Road.Long was transported to the Lehigh County Booking Center, where he was awaiting arraignment as of press time.
