Caregiver, other man face drug charges

Two Lehigh Valley men, one a caregiver, will be cited by Tamaqua Police on drug-related charges.

Officers were dispatched to the Burger King parking lot at 10:07 p.m. March 26 to check into a suspicious blue van that had been parked in the lot for a very long period of time. Inside the van, officers found Noah Gray Marsters, 27, of Easton, and Jarid Westerman, 27, of Allentown. Both men seemed to become nervous when the officer approached the van, making furtive movements. A third male was asleep on the back seat.Westerman said they were lost and trying to find out how to get back to Allentown.A metal spoon and wax paper packet were clearly visible between the front seats, leading officers to ask the men to consent to a search. Both said yes.Westerman had three hypodermic needles in his hoodie pocket and a change purse containing numerous empty wax baggies. Two baggies in the change purse held a white powdery substance suspected to be heroin.Marsters had a small white paper cup containing a variety of pills, which were later identified as the prescription drugs carbamazepine (anti-seizure), haloperidol (antipsychotic), benztropine mesylate (Parkinson's treatment) and aripiprazole (depressive disorders). He also had several hypodermic needles, two empty baggies, a baggie containing suspected heroin, a book of matches, small piece of cotton, metal spoon, a prescription bottle labeled cefadroxil (antiobiotic) with green vegetable residue and an alprazolam (Xanax) bottle containing a white powder residue.Marsters said he was the caregiver for the third man, who was autistic, and was employed by Keystone Human Services of Allentown. The company was contacted and sent another employee to pick up their client at the police station.
