A Lehighton woman was flown from the scene of a crash in Towamensing Township at 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of Owl Creek Road and Hemlock Street.

The driver, Sherry Link, entered the intersection and lost control entering the berm of the southeast corner striking a tree head-on. Link had had to be extricated from the wreckage by members of the Towamensing township fire comany.

She was treated at the scene by members of the Palmerton ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being flown by helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital trauma center in Allentown. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
