Tamaqua Salvation Army Older and Bolder group meets

The Older and Bolder program at the Tamaqua Salvation Army began its spring session with an egg-related relay race, just in time for Easter.

The program meets every Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 105 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Geared to help those 55 and older to stay active and focused, the only requirement is being "young at heart," according to director Dina Depos. The main program is held eight months out of the year, in two sessions, spring and fall. While most meetings are held at the Sal, the group also does a lot of traveling, with much of the transportation provided by STS.Upcoming activities include a presentation on AARP Senior Employment Opportunities on March 30; a presentation on health and nutrition by consultant Sean McGeehan on April 6; a performance by Lucille Fala of the Strawberry Playhouse on April 13; a trip to the Schuylkill Mall in Frackville on April 20 for a wellness fair and cinema matinee; and a Diakon presentation on April 27.For more information, or to join the program, call 570-668-0410.

Tamaqua Older and Bolder group participants started the spring session with a relay race with raw eggs. The only thing broken was the uneasiness of a group of people meeting for the first time in months. KATHY KUNKEL/TIMES NEWS
