Lenten worship
Wednesday evening Lenten worship is at 7 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford. Soup and sandwich supper begins at 6:15.Everyone is welcome to share in the meal fellowship before gathering for worship and being fed on God's word.If Panther Valley schools are closed or dismissed early for bad weather, the supper and worship are canceled.Call Pastor Marjorie, 570-273-4038, for more information.St. John'sSt. John's will observe Holy Week with services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday at 7 p.m. both days. Thursday evening's worship will include Holy Communion and stripping of the altar. Friday's service will remember Jesus' death with readings, hymns and deepening darkness.The Resurrection of Jesus will be celebrated first at the Vigil of Easter, held at St. Paul's Lutheran, 123 W. White St., Summit Hill, at 7 p.m. Saturday, and then on Easter Sunday at 8:45 a.m. at St. John's.The annual children's Easter egg hunt will be held in the church fellowship hall after the Sunday worship service.Lansford poolThe fate of the Lansford pool will be discussed at a special public meeting at 5:45 p.m. March 29 at the Lansford Administrative Building, 1 W. Ridge St. in Lansford. Borough residents and nonresidents who use the pool are encouraged to attend and provide their input.Special guests will be representatives of Wade Associates of Harrisburg, the company hired by Lansford Borough Council to provide a complete assessment of what is needed to continue using the pool.Contact the Times News at 800-443-0377 or
