Tamaqua graduate Brett Kosciolek recently picked up his first collegiate pitching win. The victory, which came on March 15, was also the first of the season for Rider University.
Kosciolek, a freshman member of the Broncs baseball squad, got the start against Campbell and tossed six innings, allowing three runs while striking out seven in an eventual 11-8 win.The victory put a halt to the 11-game losing streak Rider was enduring to start the season."Brett did a great job," said head coach Barry Davis on the Rider University baseball website. "He threw strikes for the most part. He did the job for us and kept them at bay."The 2013 Times News Baseball Player of the Year currently has a 1-1 record. In three games, two starts, Kosciolek has pitched 11.1 innings, allowing 15 hits and five earned runs for a 3.97 ERA.
