Carbon County court - Guilty pleas

Two defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas recently in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas from the following:Martin Joseph Bishop, 49, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of bad checks.He was arrested on Sept. 28, 2015, by state police at Lehighton for issuing a bad check.He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to make restitution of $340.82 and render 50 hours of community service.Danto Shaw,25, of Philadelphia, pleaded to one count of retail theft, as a felony three. He was arrested by Mahoning Township police for an incident at the Walmart store on Nov. 30, 2012.He was placed on probation for three years and must obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 150 hours of community service.Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
