Mother Nature cooperated for the Fourth Annual Coming Together for a Cause Chili and Boilo Contest on Feb. 27.
Sunny and dry, with just enough chill in the air, the weather was a perfect match for the cook-off, which is sponsored annually by Tamaqua's East End and American Hose Co. No. 1 Fire Companies.Prizes are awarded for the People's Choice and Judge's Awards in the traditional and specialty categories.This year's winners are: Anne Connely, People's Choice Award for traditional chili; Sharon Connely, People's Choice and Judges Awards for specialty chili; Jared Stahler, Judges Award for traditional chili; Chink Connely,People's Choice Award for traditional boilo; Rich Beltz, Judges Award for traditional boilo; Michelle McCarroll, People's Choice Award for specialty boilo; and Bill Navitsky, Judge's Award for specialty boilo.Organized by Brian Connely and Tom McCarroll, the event has raised more than $2.500 in each of its first three years.
