During 2015, over 5 tons of textiles were recycled in Franklin Township.

That's according to a certificate presented to the township supervisors by USAgain, a firm which has recycling bins in the township.USAgain collects used clothing and textile products in 16 states, according to its website.The firm presented a "Certificate of Sustainability" to the township because it collected 10,951 pounds of textiles during the year.Brenda Neeb, township secretary/treasurer, said the textile recycling bins are located by the township building next to bins in which residents put other recyclables.On another note regarding recycling. Neeb said an Electronics Recycling Day will be heldApril 30 from 9 a.m. until noon, or until the truck is full, at the recycling bins.The Electronics Recycling Day is being conducted by Responsible Recycling Services of Kutztown.The firm will recycle, free of charge, computers, computer components, toner and ink cartridges, cellphone and laptop batteries, DVD players, VCRs, gaming systems, microwaves and small appliances, car batteries, bed frames, rain spouting, exercise equipment and filing cabinets.Additional items that can be recycled with a fee include washers and dryers, TVs, LCD monitors, dishwashers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, floor freezers and ranges.It will offer destruction of hard drives and shredding of documents - off-site - for another fee.Regarding TVs, the TVs must be complete.
