Carbon County Judge Roger N. Nanovic has issued an order appointing David L. Krause to fill the vacancy on Lehighton School Board left by the death of Bill Hill. The judge filed the order late Monday afternoon.

Krause, a former school board member, needs to be sworn in before he can be seated, but can do that before any individual authorized to give an oath.

Krause has spoken out at meetings in favor of building a new elementary school.

The next school board meeting is March 21.
