Prom committeeThe 2016 Panther Valley Prom Committee will host a Vera Bradley bingo on Saturday at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center, 353 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning.Doors open at 1 p.m. Bingo begins at 2. There will be 20 regular games and five specials.Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the class's upcoming prom.Woman's clubThe members of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club met under the direction of President Barbara Priadka on Monday evening. The club agreed to advertise for new members to keep the club in existence.In other news it was brought to the club's attention that the 50th anniversary is coming up, and Pat Sasserath was elected to chair the anniversary committee. Priadka named members to the nomination of new officers committee. Nominees will be announced three times before the final installation in June.The welcoming of new members will be held at the May Tea when members of the Panther Valley and Lehighton Women's Clubs are invited.The club enjoyed a program presented by Mark Nalesnik, EMA coordinator for Carbon County. He distributed pamphlets and talked about the county's CERT Team, encouraging members to get certified if they have not yet done so.CERT training is held in spring and also in the fall again for four weeks. He explained in case of an emergency CERT members are qualified to look out for their neighbors and assist at the two emergency centers in Nesquehoning, located at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center and the Nesquehoning Fire Company.The next meeting is set for April 4 with the dance students of Shari Kenlin Kennedy. Executive board will be held at the home of Valerie Higgins and co-hosted by Carol Zickler and Jen Drake on April 17 at 2 p.m. Any new members who would like to attend may stop by at the next meeting.Contact the Times News at 800-443-0377 or
