A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Carbon County man who allegedly tattooed a person under the age of 18 without parental consent.

Anthony Shetrompf, 22, of Palmerton, is scheduled to go before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton at 9 a.m. March 30.Shetrompf has been charged with tattooing and body piercing.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. Christopher Ritter of the Palmerton Police Department:On Jan. 14, Ritter received a complaint from a man who said his daughter, 17, had been given a tattoo on her buttocks by a male friend of hers.Neither the victim's father or mother had given consent for the tattooing, nor did they have any knowledge of it until they discovered the tattoo.That same day, the victim and her mother appeared for an interview, in which the victim said that her friend, "Anthony," had given her the tattoo in the basement of a mutual friend's home in Palmerton on the evening of Nov. 8, three days before the victim's birthday.Also present were the victim's friends, both of whom were 18 years old at that time.The tattoo was done on the victim's right hip/buttocks area, and consists of the words "your name."Through investigation, Ritter identified the suspect as Shetrompf, who agreed to an interview and appeared at the borough police station on Jan. 19.At that time, Shetrompf signed a waiver of his Miranda rights, and readily admitted to performing the tattoo on the victim's buttocks.Shetrompf also claimed to have served an apprenticeship in tattooing at a since-closed studio in Nesquehoning called "Tattoo Nerds Ink Boutique," where he learned safety procedures and legal requirements.In a subsequent interview, Shetrompf showed Ritter his tattoo machine, and said he had purchased it secondhand about two years ago.On Jan. 21, Ritter met with the former owner of "Tattoo Nerds Ink Boutique," who firmly denied that Shetrompf served any sort of apprenticeship at her studio, nor did he receive any instruction whatsoever or perform any tattooing under her supervision.
