Update on fiery crash

A passing motorist pulled a Palmerton woman from her wrecked vehicle Monday before it burst into flames, according to Mahoning Township police.

Jennifer Wuttke, 40, was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital by ambulance after her westbound 2013 Hyundai Accent crashed into a utility pole at the Mahoning Drive East and Grist Mill Road intersection around 2:45 p.m.Mahoning Township Police Chief Audie Mertz said the car went into a yard, overturned and caught on fire.Before the blaze, passing motorist Raymond Franke of Bath pulled Wuttke from the car.He used his bare hands to pull the windshield out in order to free her as the vehicle was on its side, police said.Another motorist Amy Sell of Tamaqua saw the crash, and also assisted in removing her from the car.
