Tamaqua art center hires special events assistant

The Tamaqua Community Art Center has grown so much since its creation that board members felt the need to hire a part-time special events assistant, Carrie Fox.

Fox grew up in the village of Hauto and graduated from West Chester University with a degree in visual and performing arts, including classes in arts administration. She currently lives in Lake Hauto."I see my degree as a huge asset to the center, as theater arts was my main area of focus," Fox said. "I'm looking forward to helping the art center continue to bring arts education to our community. When I was growing up here, there weren't many outlets for artistic expression; arts weren't the 'cool' thing to be involved with. I'm so very excited to return back to the area, to find places like the art center growing, and building a strong community through the arts."Center Director Leona Rega Fox spoke to the public during an art show held at the center on Thursday.Rega said, "The art center has grown so rapidly in such a short amount of time. It's incredible. Carrie will help us with current events as well as prepare for the future as we keep planning new experiences for the community."
