The westbound lane of Route 895 in East Penn Township is closed because of a tree lying on numerous utility lines. The tree snapped because of high winds.

Fire officials have requested Verizon telephone crews to the scene to remove the tree from their lines.

The utility company has refused. Officials have requested PennDOT to the scene with road closure signs and have asked the Carbon communications center to notify the Carbon EMA and the state police of the closure.
