March 1, 1957 - A balanced scoring attack and a big third quarter help Tamaqua defeat Nesquehoning, 61-55, to claim the Black Diamond League championship. Marlin Tirpak finishes with a team-high 14 points for the Blue Raiders, who use a 26-11 third frame to offset a one-point halftime deficit. Bill Eisley contributes 11 points to the winning effort while Don Unger and Hal Barron both finish with 10. Tamaqua, coached by Eli Purnell, also receives eight points from Billy Yelsh and Bob Lusky. For the Nesquers, Steve Kusko tallies a game-high 20 points.
