Man threatens mother with chain saw, ax

An Orwigsburg man, armed with a chain saw and an ax, threatened to kill his mother Friday evening. Edward James Taylor Jr., 25, also threatened to burn down her house in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven report that Taylor went to the woman's house at 5:15 p.m. on Friday and began acting in a violent manner.After entering the home's garage, Taylor broke through an interior door leading to the kitchen. He began yelling at his mother, threatening to kill her and burn down her house.After a few minutes of yelling, he went outside to his vehicle, where he picked up a chain saw and re-entered the home, continuing to threaten his victim. When Taylor went back to the vehicle to pick up an ax, his mother called 911.State police were able to take Taylor into custody without further incident.He was arraigned before duty District Judge David Platchko on charges of aggravated assault (felony); misdemeanor counts of making terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person; harassment and criminal mischief (summary offenses).The judge set bail at $25,000 percentage, which the defendant was unable to post.He was lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.
