A 45-year-old woman was seriously injured in a violent one car crash Tuesday afternoon along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

The crash occurred at

3.p.m. as she was traveling north and lost control on an icy roadway.Reports from the scene were that she was heavily entrapped with the engine of the unit being forced back into the passenger compartment.Firefighters from Penn Forest No. 1 and No. 2, Albrightsville and Lake Harmony saved the woman after being trapped for over an hour.She was treated at the scene by members of the Lake Harmony ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to an area trauma center.State police at Fern Ridge are investigating the incident. Route 903 was closed for two hours.
