Schuylkill County man admits to forging prescriptions

A Schuylkill County man admitted in Carbon County court on Monday to forging prescriptions and then attempting to have them filled at area pharmacies.

Daniel James Brogan, 43, of McAdoo entered guilty pleas in three separate cases before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.Brogan pleaded four counts of forgery for an incident on April 29, 2015, at the Weatherly Pharmacy, where he attempted to have four forged prescriptions filled. He also pleaded to one count of forgery for an incident on July 2, 2015, also at the Weatherly Pharmacy. He pleaded to one count of criminal attempt to acquire a controlled substance by misrepresentation. The incident occurred on June 30, 2015, at the Rite Aid pharmacy in Lehighton. The forged prescriptions were for oxycodone.Brogan told Nanovic he had a drug addiction problem.Nanovic deferred sentencing so Brogan can apply for placement in the state's Intermediate Punishment Program. Brogan is currently an inmate in the county prison in Nesquehoning but will be transferred to a state correctional institution to be evaluated for the state IPP. Sentencing will occur after the evaluation is completed.
