Miller-Keystone center recognizes organizations

The Miller-Keystone Blood Center recently recognized 15 organizations for their commitment to the health and welfare of the community through blood drive sponsorships. Carbon County topped the 2015 list with East Penn Manufacturing collecting 921 units of blood, and the borough of Palmerton having collected 269 units. The blood center recognized the groups with a plaque presentation.

"Our Local Leaders campaign recognizes those schools, businesses, church groups and other organizations who go above and beyond the call of duty to support their community," said Sean Tinney, director of marketing and business development."By hosting blood drives with our regional blood provider, these organizations are also supporting the MKBC Mission Statement, which is 'Saving lives by partnering with our community to provide a continuous supply of blood products and services.' "In addition to this year's "Local Leader" awards, the blood center also presented Amazon.com with the "Growth Leader" award in recognition of their overall increase in units collected. In 2015, Amazon.com collected 374 units, more than 149 over their 2014 blood collection totals. For more information on Miller-Keystone Blood Center's Local Leaders campaign, or to arrange for a blood drive at your organization, call 800-B-A-DONOR or visit GIVEaPINT.org.
