A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Tuesday following an investigation into the attempted purchase of a firearm.

State police at Frackville said on Dec. 22, 2015, it began investigating the attempted firearms transaction that occurred at Ed's Sport Shop, West Broad Street, Tamaqua. On Feb. 11, following the investigation, troopers obtained a felony warrant for the arrest of William Wayne Skeans, 28, of Mahanoy City. On Tuesday Mahanoy City police located Skeans and took him into custody.Troopers said he was arraigned before District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville, on a charge of firearms act violation, and taken to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $20,000 bail.
