Sues over crash

A two-count complaint involving a motor vehicle crash is seeking damages in excess of $100,000, plus attorney's fees, costs and expenditures, delay damages and interest.Larry and Jane Strohl, husband and wife, of 1975 Forrest Inn Road, Palmerton, are seeking a jury trial to decide a case against Kaycie Reabold, 300 S. Seventh St., Lehighton.The complaint alleges Reabold was driving a vehicle on Feb. 6, 2014, at 3:55 p.m. that rear-ended a stopped vehicle operated by Larry Strohl while the vehicles were traveling on Route 209 in Towamensing Township.In one count, seeking damages in excess of $50,000, the Strohls are alleging negligence and carelessness by Reabold, resulting in serious, painful and permanent personal injuries to Larry Strohl.The second count seeks in excess of $50,000 on behalf of Jane Strohl, who asserts the injuries to her husband have deprived her of the comfort and consortium of her husband.Marriage licensesThree couples have filed for and received marriage licenses in the office of the Register of Wills, as follows:Adam Clayton Bertschy and Kristin Sarah Weiskircher, both of Beaver Meadows, Andrew James Polly and Jessica Marie George, both of Summit Hill; and Anthony Louis Keiper and Kristin Marie Jespersen, both of Weatherly.Appeals rulingMasters Roofing and Construction Inc., Richard Hinkle, Sandra Hinkle and Nathan Hinkle, 340 A Freedom Drive, Weatherly, have appealed a lower-court ruling against them.The appeal is of an order issued by Magisterial District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr., Weatherly, who granted judgment in the amount of $12,134.30 in favor of James E. Lathrop, Clearwater, Florida, on Jan. 7, 2016.Liens filedThe U.S. Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, has filed a lien against Michael and Jennifer A. Wagner, 335 Lonesome Lane, Palmerton. The judgment is in the amount of $3,905.30, seeking 1040 taxes for the tax period ending Dec. 31, 2014.Quiet title actionLansford Palace LLC, 619 Iron St., Lehighton, has filed an action in quiet title against W. Craig Hockman, 610 Elmira St., White Haven, and PNC Bank, N.A., Pittsburgh, over a property located at 101 W. Bertsch St.The complaint states the plaintiff became the owner of the property through a Carbon County Judicial Sale conducted Nov. 6, 2015, after which time it took possession of the property.The suit states because of the action, Hockman, former owner of the property, is divested of any interest in the property, and PNC Bank, the first mortgage holder on the property, has no valid interest in the property as a result of the loss of its mortgage interest.The plaintiff asks both parties to bring an action against the plaintiff within 30 days, asserting any right, lien, title or interest, or the validity of the mortgage debt, or forever be barred from having any claims associated with the property.Motor vehicle tortPaulette Robinson and Gabriel Robinson, h/w, of 122 Chippewa Trail, Box 1111, Albrightsville, has started a motor vehicle tort claim suit against Nicholas Raub, 435 Little Gap Road, Palmerton.The suit, initiated by the filing of a writ of summons in which the specific claims of the complaint are not yet listed, seeks money damages within the court's $25,000 arbitration limit, although a jury trial is demanded.Transcripts of judgmentThe Mount Pocahontas Property Owners Association, 386 Old Stage Road, Albrightsville, has placed on record judgments ordered in its behalf by Magisterial District Judge Edward M. Lewis, Jim Thorpe.Defendants are Jerry Brake, Summerville, West Virginia, and Thomas D. and Elfrieda Llewellyn, Lake Placid, Florida.The Brake judgment is in the amount of $3,704.61 and the Llewellyn judgment is in the amount of $2,099.50.In both cases, the association is seeking payment of costs associated with unpaid dues on properties the defendants own in that development.Debt collection suitsDiscover Bank, New Albany, Ohio, has filed debt collection complaints against separates defendants the plaintiff states breached the terms of credit services accounts by failure to make payments:The second complaint lists Darrin G. Ahner, 516 Vine St., Lehighton, as the defendant, seeking judgment in the amount of $2,388.47, plus costs.The third complaint is against Gary D. Drumbore, 556 Fairyland Road, Lehighton, seeking judgment in the amount of $10,361.86, plus costs, and the fourth complaint is against Kyle D. Elsasser, 171 Center Road, Lehighton, seeking judgment in the amount of $8,328.60, plus costs.Mortgage foreclosuresThe Federal National Mortgage Association, Washington, D.C., has filed a mortgage foreclosure complaint against Michael and Tina Smith Henninger, 86 E. Third St., Jim Thorpe, over a property at that address.The complaint seeks judgment in the amount of $87,614.85, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs.JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A., Columbus, Ohio, has filed a mortgage foreclosure complaint against Karen L. Fugill, Karen L. Demarinise-Fugill and Donald W. Fugill, all of 32 Choctaw Road, Jim Thorpe, over a property at 63 Susquehanna Drive, Jim Thorpe.The complaint seeks judgment in the amount of $125,280.20, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs.Complaints in ejectmentMortgage Equity Conversion Asset Trust 2011-1, by U.S. Bank N.A., Coppell, Texas, has filed a complaint in ejectment against Robert M. Rehrig, Crystal S. Loar and Samantha Willis, known surviving heirs of Robert H. Rehrig, former owner, and unknown surviving heirs, as occupants of 442 Cypress St., Lehighton.The complaint states the plaintiff acquired title to the property by reason of a Sheriff's Sale conducted by the Carbon County Sheriff on July 10, 2015, and that the defendants are in possession of the premises without title to the property or the benefit of a lease from the plaintiff.The plaintiff is asking the court to order judgment be entered in its favor for possession of the property.Webster Bank N.A., Cheshire, Connecticut, has filed a complaint in ejectment against Ramanand Amarsingh, and occupants, 54 Tamarack Terrace, Albrightsville, over a property at that address.The complaint states the plaintiff acquired title of the property by reason of a Sheriff's Sale conducted by the Carbon County Sheriff on Oct. 9, 2015, and that the defendants are in possession of the premises without title to the property or the benefit of a lease from the plaintiff.The plaintiff is asking the court to order judgment be entered in its favor for possession of the property.Suit over student loanThe National Collegiate Student Loan Trust 2006-1, Norcross, Georgia, has appealed a magisterial district judge's ruling and subsequently filed a complaint against Michael F. and Martha J. Jucewicz, 810 Gilberts Hill Road, Lehighton.MDJ Casimir T. Kosciolek ordered on Jan. 4, 2016, judgment in favor the defendants on Jan. 4, 2016, after which time the loan trust, on Feb. 3, appealed the decision and filed a complaint the same date.The complaint alleges the Jucewiczes failed to make required payments on a loan request/credit agreement that the parties executed on Aug. 25, 2005. Judgment in the amount of $11,985, plus costs, is sought.
