Jim Thorpe man driving the wrong way faces drug charges

Coaldale Police have filed charges against Patrick Conklin, 20, of 8 W. Front St., Jim Thorpe, after a traffic stop in the borough on Jan. 9.

An officer was on patrol at 12:24 a.m. when he saw a green Subaru traveling the wrong way on West Howard Avenue. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Conklin.With the Subaru's driver's window down, a strong odor of burned marijuana wafted from the vehicle.A records check found that Conklin does not have a valid driver's license, just an expired learner's permit.A search of the vehicle found a glass bowl commonly used for smoking marijuana, one small orange plastic bag with a white powdery substance, a larger white bag with marijuana residue, a white cylinder containing a powdery residue, a cellophane wrapper containing green vegetable matter and a pack of blunts.Conklin was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a license and going the wrong way on a one-way street.
