LCCC open house planned for adult students

Lehigh Carbon Community College will host an open house at the college's Tamaqua campus to promote its Morgan Foundation Scholarship.

The John E. Morgan Foundation provides scholarships to students from Schuylkill County who enter career pathway courses that lead to credentials that prepare them for gainful employment. Unique to these scholarships is that they also support students in noncredit and short-term programs, in addition to traditional credit degree programs. The programs and courses available through the scholarship were chosen to address the business needs in Schuylkill County and help fill current employment gaps in the areas of manufacturing, health care, business and the transportation industry. The open house is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23.Prospective students can meet with LCCC staff and faculty to learn about the credit and noncredit programs supported by the Morgan Scholarship and the requirements for entry into the selected programs of study, and to complete a Morgan Foundation Scholarship application. In the event of inclement weather, the snow date is Feb. 25.Opportunities are available to people who are either unemployed or underemployed, with up to 50 percent in tuition assistance available. For more information and to register for the open house, call LCCC's Morgan Center at 570-668-6880 or visit
