Lehighton man sought in connection with traffic stop

Jim Thorpe police have reported an active warrant is pending against Lawney L. Strohl, 46, of 223 White St., Lehighton, on charges stemming from an incident that happened around noon June 12, 2015, in the borough.

Randy S. Green Jr., 33, of 720 Iron St., Lehighton, was also arrested in the same incident.Police said they stopped a 2001 Ford F-250 pickup after observing it had an expired registration. A records check revealed the displayed registration sticker did not match the expiration date registered with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.Police said Strohl was driving the truck, but told officers he did not have a license. Police said it was suspended due to a DUI-related offense.Green, the owner of the truck, was a passenger. When officers asked for the vehicle registration and proof of insurance, neither occupant was able to provide it.Police learned the inspection sticker on the truck was assigned to a Volkswagen.They charged Green with two misdemeanor counts of altered, forged or counterfeit documents and plates, two misdemeanor counts of obstructing administration of the law or government function, two summary charges of violation of title and one summary count each of fraudulent use or removal of a registration plate, registration and certificate of title requires, required financial responsibility, operation of a vehicle without an official certificate of inspection, permitting an unauthorized person to drive, and restraint systems.Police said Strohl has been charged with similar charges, in addition to two counts of driving while his operating privilege is suspended or revoked.Police are asking anyone with information of his whereabouts to contact them at 570-325-4995 or the Carbon County Communications Center at 570-325-9111.
