Computer classes at Palmerton library

The Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave. in Palmerton, is offering computer classes for adults.

The classes are held at the library from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays after the library is closed so that students can use all the computers at the library.Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops if they own one.Intro to Computers will be offered beginning April 7. This class will run for four weeks, and topics will include learning to set up your mouse, keyboard and monitor.Learn to work with the software installed on your computer. Work with windows and installed programs. This class is for those who have no computer experience.Microsoft Office Excel/Word will begin on May 5. In this class, students will learn to use menus and toolbars, create, edit, revise and format a document, work with spell check, help menu and clipart. They will also learn how to make labels, work with tables, charts and spreadsheets.Social Media and Mobile Devices will start on June 2. In this class, students will learn about Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Skype, Apps and much more.By taking these classes at the library, you can turn your computer from a $1,000 paperweight to a valuable tool for productivity, communication, business, entertainment and much more. Bring along your iPad or tablet to class.New this year is a class called The World of Google, which will begin on July 7. In this class, you will explore all the free software and services provided online by Google.For beginners and more advanced computer users, this insightful workshop shows how to perform tasks such as exploring the world, building a free website, using Gmail, browsing the Internet, creating documents, and sharing web albums and calendars by using the options available through Google.To enroll in any of these classes, call the library at 610-826-3424, or stop in to pick up a flier and register.Class size is limited, so register early.
