Rentschler gives donation to NCC

An Ally Financial entourage led by account executive Jeffrey Pusey presented Fred Rentschler of Rentschler Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram with a small swag bag and donation check for being nominated for the Time magazine's Dealership Award.

Rentschler was nominated for the national Ally annually sponsored award in late 2015. One of the perks for being a nominee is a check for $1,000 to be donated within the nominee's community. Rentschler opted to donate his check to the Northampton Community College automotive program. The college's automotive program Director Warren Farnell was on hand Monday afternoon to accept the donation."Fred's been a big supporter of ours for many, many years," Farnell said.According to the program director, the money will be placed into a general fund and applied toward either a scholarship or tools and equipment. Currently theestimate of students enrolled in the automotive program is 125, including sixwomen."There are more women enrolled now than there used to be," Farnell said.Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association Executive Director Tom Kwiatek was present to congratulate Rentschler on his nomination, "He started as a board member but has held every office in the association," Kwiatek said. "It's really great to have a dealership like Rentschler's because they do so much for the community."Dick Culver, education director for the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association, said Rentschler, works closely with the association."Fred's job was to get service managers organized and to get the new blood graduating out and working in local dealerships.""One of the hardest things a dealer has to deal with today is to find certified technicians. We are very happy to have three techs that went through the college for training. We currently have a vo-tech student from the Carbon campus working for us before going to the college," Rentschler said.Pusey presented Rentschler with the donation check, a plaque of all 50 nationwide dealership nominations' names and a "Vegas Kit," including an Ally necktie Pusey hopes Rentschler will wear during the award ceremony."We want to thank you, not only as a dealer but for everything you've done for the community. We're proud of that at Ally," Pusey said."Our dealership is made up of our employees and they make up our success," said brother and co-owner Rick Rentschler. "It gives us all incentive to say, 'Hey smaller guys can make it,' " he said about the nomination."We are one out of 50 with some of the big dealers, we will try our best," Fred Rentschler said. "April 1st, no matter what happens, it'll be a good day. It's the anniversary of our dad opening the first dealership. We'll be proud either way."
