Police issue warrant for squatting, identity theft

Tamaqua police have requested a warrant for the arrest of Timothy Alan Kitson, 43, formerly of New Jersey, who is wanted in connection with two recent incidents.

On Jan. 20, police were alerted that Kitson was squatting in a condemned property at 245 Van Gelder St. The property is owned by a Traci Caggiano, who told police she had an agreement of sale for the property to a William Kitson of New Jersey. When Kitson was contacted he said his brother, Timothy, did not have permission to be on the property citing damage his brother had caused at a previous time.Officers went to the house and removed Timothy Kitson from the premises at 9:20 p.m.The next day an officer spoke again with William Kitson, who provided additional information about his brother using his identity. Minutes after hanging up with the New Jersey man the officer received a dispatch from Schuylkill County Communications to contact William Kitson by phone, providing a different number than the one the officer had just used. The officer called the new number. The man on the other end identified himself as William Kitson. He told the officer he was in Reading, didn't have his driver's license with him and needed the number looked up.The officer noted he had just finished speaking with William, who was in New Jersey, and asked for his real identity, which the man failed to provide.When contacted again William asked for his brother to be arrested.Police secured a copy of the taped conversation from the communications center, where Timothy claimed to be William.Charges include two counts of criminal trespass, identity theft and providing false identification to law enforcement.
