Smith running for seat in 124th District

Democrat James D. Smith is running for state representative of the 124th District. He lives in Summit Hill with his wife and three children. He is 49 years old and has been in the fire service for 30 years.

Smith said representing the people of the 124th District means not only working in Harrisburg to better Pennsylvania, as a whole, but being actively involved in the district. He issued the following statement:When I get elected, you'd better expect to see me around the community, not just in an office during certain times.Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian and all parties have to work together to make a better future. A representative must be willing to work with the other parties, and not vote blindly for a certain agenda or party line.I work hard for my family. When elected, I will take the hard work into Harrisburg. I will give the statehouse a representative that symbolizes the average middle-class, hardworking American. You may see me now at sporting events, fairs, out at the park and attending local events. That won't change. The volunteer work I do will not change. Along with my family and you, I want to see an area that is prosperous and safe for our children. I want to better the district for you, your family, my family and me.I feel that it's time to put a blue collar person in, someone who knows that if the work is not done, then you stay until it is. Pennsylvania has a problem of putting people in who don't care about the ones that put them there. If elected, I will fight for the people who need it most: the ones living on a fixed income. I personally know because I myself am disabled. I budget my income and I am not afraid to say 'no.' We cannot keep spending money that we don't have, and just because we want something is no reason to raise taxes. No one can afford that.
