Franklin Township supervisors

At the 2016 reorganization meeting, Franklin Township Board of Supervisors welcomed Barbara Beltz as their newly elected supervisor.

Beltz, who sought election for an open seat when former Supervisor Paul Kocher opted to not seek re-election, became the first female supervisor in Franklin Township.Supervisor Rod Green was re-elected as the chairman of the board, while fellow Supervisor Robin Cressley was elected as vice chairman. There was no change in any of the annually appointed township officials.In other matters discussed during the monthly board of supervisors meeting, held following the reorganization meeting, Franklin Township will be seeking bids for low sulfur diesel fuel, heating oil, and 87 octane unleaded gasoline. These bids will be opened and awarded at the Feb. 16 meeting.Township Secretary Brenda Neeb reminded the residents and supervisors that, "Christmas trees can be disposed of at the Phifer's Ice Dam Park using the Penn Street entrance."Neeb also said there will be no change in garbage collection in the township due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Collection will take place on Jan. 18.
