Deer blamed for Schuylkill crash

A deer entering a Schuylkill County roadway was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 11:43 p.m. on Monday.

State police at Frackville said Paul Burkoski, 53, of Elysburg, Northumberland County, was driving a 2003 Nissan Altima westbound on Brandonville Road, in Union Township, when the deer entered the road in front of him.Burkoski swerved to avoid the animal, crossing the roadway and entering the north berm where his vehicle struck a utility pole. Upon impact the Nissan overturned and came to rest on its roof facing west. Burkoski was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
