Rush Township adds part-time officers

A trio of part-time officers have been added to the Rush Township Police Department.

At a recent meeting by unanimous vote, township supervisors hired Ryan Oldt, Devin Bodman and Jonathan Troyer as part-time police officers at a rate of $17 per hour.Other actionIn other business, supervisors:• Awarded a bid to Tropp Contracting, Pottsville, in the amount of $17,080 for equipment rentals with operators for 2016.• Approved for the Hometown Fire Company's new truck loan. Chairman Shawn Gilbert will sign documents on behalf of the township.• Approved a fire service agreement between the township and the Hometown and Quakake fire companies.• Announced that there have been recent calls from companies inquiring about transient business licenses, and that if any resident in the township would like to be on a "do not solicit list," to contact the township office.• Authorized Gilbert to execute on behalf of the township all the paperwork for completion of the Lincoln Drive sewer project.• Approved an agreement for financial assistance for the January snowstorm, and authorized Supervisor Robert Leibensperger as the applicant agent.• Approved the Quakake Fire Company's 75th Anniversary parade route, at 3 p.m. July 23, and to accept their request for assistance from Rush Township fire police.• Disapproved the repository sale for a parcel on the north side of Liberty due to land use restrictions.• Announced that a temporary burn ban is in effect and will run through May 22.• Announced that residents who do not wish to be on the township's Red Alert list notifying them of activities and/or emergencies going on in the township should contact the township.
