Lehighton Area Middle School's lower practice field may look like a scene out of the movie "Grease" this weekend.

A partnership between Lehighton High School's Interact club and the Lehighton Education and Athletic Foundation led to the planning of a community carnival at the field, between Beaver Run Road and Ninth Street, Thursday through Saturday.The carnival opens at 4 p.m. Thursday, which is also family night and features a $15 ride wristband special.Nonweiler Amusements Midway Inc. will be providing the rides.Entertainment will come courtesy of D.J. Danny E on Friday and local band Another Day Dawns on Saturday.Food, including funnel cake, will be available.Carnival hours are 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 4-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.All proceeds go to LEAF, which provides scholarships to Lehighton graduates, awards competitive grants to teachersfor innovative curricular activities, provides financial support for enrichment and remediation programs, expands use of technology in the classroom and enriches the fine arts, extracurricular and athletic programs.
