Tamaqua woman is killed in crash

A Tamaqua woman died Saturday morning from injuries she suffered in a one-car crash in West Donegal Township (Elizabethtown area) this past weekend.

Nicola Ferrara, 43, was driving a 2001 Mini Cooper in the 900 block of Maytown Road (Route 743) when she lost control of her car Friday night.Ferrara, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car, which came to rest on its roof.The crash was reported to Northwest Regional Police at 11:16 p.m.She was transported to University Hospital in Hershey, where she died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday from injuries.Speed and alcohol may have played a part in the crash, according to a news release from Northwest Regional Police Chief Mark Mayberry.
