Wal-Mart shooting deemed justified

Officers were justified in shooting a Mount Bethel man in an East Stroudsburg Wal-Mart late Saturday, according to state police at Swiftwater.

The ruling, released Monday, was made in conjunction with Monroe County District Attorney E. David Christine.Andrew Joseph Todd, 20, was shot and killed by officers from the Stroud Area Regional Police Department when he refused officers’ orders to drop his weapon.Police were dispatched to the store shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday after reports of an armed man threatening and pointing a weapon at customers.Officials say about 100 people were in the store at the time.
