UPDATE: Jim Thorpe postpones girls basketball for tonight following bomb threat

Jim Thorpe has postponed its girls basketball game against Lehighton following a bomb threat at the high school earlier today.

Dustin McAndrew, athletic director for Jim Thorpe, announced the postponement just before 2:30 p.m.Two Pennsylvania State Police bomb sniffing dogs are currently on scene at Jim Thorpe Area High School after reports of a possible bomb in the building came in to school officials.Police have been on scene at Jim Thorpe Area High School since 12:30 p.m.Jim Thorpe Police Chief Joseph Schatz said a note had been found in the boys bathroom on a toilet paper dispenser that stated there was a bomb. The student who found the note reported it to the school principal, who called authorities.The students have since been moved to an undisclosed location off-site and are safe.State police's K-9 unit will sweep the building to see if a bomb is present.Also on scene are the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency and Jim Thorpe Fire Department.Story will be updated as information becomes available.
