Schuylkill inmate sentenced for shank

The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Dwayne Parker, 31, a federal prisoner formally housed at the Federal Correctional Institute, Schuylkill was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion in Scranton, for possession of a prohibited object in prison.

Mannion sentenced Parker to 27 months imprisonment for possessing a shank in prison.The sentence will be run consecutively to Parker's current 15-year federal sentence which he received as a result of a conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.According to United States Attorney Peter Smith, Parker was charged in a criminal indictment on June 2 and entered a guilty plea.The case was investigated by the Bureau of Prisons and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd K. Hinkley prosecuted the case.
