A Monroe County woman is facing multiple charges, including prostitution, following an investigation of a missing dog.
Pocono Mountain Regional police identified the suspect as Kaynie Louise Kingston, 21, of Mount Pocono.According to police on Tuesday the Hound Hunters of Northeastern PA contacted them stating they believed that they had located a missing German Shepherd named Sheba. The dog had been reported missing on Nov. 23 from Saint John the Beloved Monastery, located in Canadensis, Barrett Township.The members of the Hound Hunters organization told police a female using the name Kayla was advertising a missing dog for sale on Craiglist. They related that they had scheduled an appointment to meet with Kayla at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Travel Lodge Motel, located off Route 611, in Pocono Township. They also indicated the female was advertising herself on line as an escort.Pocono police then initiated an investigation and verified that Kayla was advertising herself as an escort and that she was attempting to sell a dog on Craigs List. Police said at 8:11 a.m. Kayla posted on the escort site, "Hey Mt. Pocono PD catch me if you can."Pocono Regional police then contacted Pocono Township police for assistance and conducted surveillance of the Travel Lodge Motel. Police determined that Kayla had the missing dog and verified this through the canines' microchip.At 11 a.m. Kingston was identified as the suspect female and was arrested without incident.Police have charged Kingston with receiving stolen property for possession of the missing dog. Additional charges of theft of lost or mislaid property will also be filed. Police said other charges pending against Kingston is solicitation to commit prostitution, prostitution and related offenses. Kingston is currently an inmate in the county prison in Snydersville.
