40 NASCAR contestants try for car giveaway

There are 37 weeks of the NASCAR season starting in February and every week viewers cast their pick for each race in the Times News 2015 Auto Racing Challenge.

Forty contest players were entered into the grand prize drawing on Saturday at Rentschlers Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Slatington. Each player crossed their fingers when picking from 40 envelopes to see who would win the $30,000 check for a new vehicle at the dealership. Two rounds of 40 envelopes were picked from by contestants. To win, both chosen envelopes had to contain a photo of the front half of a vehicle and match up with a second envelope containing a photo of the other half of the car.Michelle M. Stoudt had a winning pick the only week she played the game, giving her a chance at the final drawing."I did the contest once and I won," she said. "It could be a Jeep if I win today."Jim Bumbulsky of Hometown had a different game strategy. "I just did a little homework. And had a lot of luck," the two-time winner said.Tanya Hamlin of Slatington picked the right envelope in round one of the drawing, hoping to win the new vehicle she made her second choice carefully as the crowd watched. The room grew quiet as Hamlin opened her second envelope but did not contain a match."I'll keep playing the different contests," she said of future Times News challenges. In the end, no one chose the correct two envelopes."This was the first time doing this. Over 400 people signed up," said Kevin Hardy, Times News regional advertising director."We hope to do it all over again next year."Sign ups for next year's NASCAR contest will begin in late January.Contestants for the 2016 contest can sign up by clicking the contest tab on the Times News website,
