Santa parade

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in Tamaqua on Friday, escorted by their four-wheeled "reindeer" and elves. The parade will travel from the Tamaqua Municipal Garage, by the post office, and head east to Berwick Street, beginning at 6 p.m.The jolly couple will then make their way to Depot Square Park and magically illuminate the thousands of lights decorating the park.From there, the party will move to the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St.TEPTOThe Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization meeting for December has been canceled.The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 12. Meetings are held in the school library.Zion LewistownPastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley. The service will include a thank offering. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.The women's guild will meet at 7 p.m. today in the social hall.The annual congregational Christmas party is scheduled for 5 p.m. Dec. 13.Calvary UMThe Rev. Ed Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a time of praise, worship and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m.An hour of praise and prayer is held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.The annual congregational Christmas banquet and party will be held following the worship service on Dec 13. Everyone is welcome to bring a covered dish to share.St. Peter's UnionThis Sunday's 9 a.m. service in St. Peter's Union Church in Mantzville will include Holy Communion.
